The Full Monty フル・モンティ　譜面／資料 英名検索 ミュージカル フル・モンティとは「とことんやる」ということ。とことんやるとどうなるかというと「すっぽんぽん」になる。語源は北アフリカ戦線エル・アラメインの戦いでロンメル将軍を破った英国陸軍元帥バーナード・モントゴメリーにあるらしく、この人はなんでも「とことんやる」人だったことから、Full Montyの言い回しが生まれたとか。さてミュージカルの内容は、不況の工業都市シェフィールドで一旗あげるため、失業中の男たちが男性ストリップ興行を企てるというお話。イギリスらしい皮肉で多少グロテスクな物語。1997年作の映画では「You Sexy Thing」「You Can Leave Your Hat On」「Hot Stuff」など、ストリップ小屋に似合いそうなドナ・サマーやトム・ジョーンズの曲を上手く使っている。後にブロードウェイへの移植にあたり、デイヴィッド・ヤズべクが音楽を担当し新曲を書いた。これは「ペテン師と詐欺師」とまったくパターンである。 The Full Monty Piano/Vocal Highlights.
